MARLBOROUGH – The Sisters of the Assumption of the Blessed VIrgin mourn the loss of Sister Claire Morin, formerly known as Sister Armand-de-Jesus, who died at Alliance Health at Marie Esther April 10. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Eva (Chabot) and Omer Morin. She was the second child in a family of three children.
Sister Claire entered the Congregation on Aug. 23, 1938. Following her profession on Feb. 15, 1941, she served in the ministry of education in parochial schools for more than 31 years as a junior high school teacher in Brockton, Salem, Southbridge, Lowell and Everett, Massachusetts and Laconia, New Hampshire. Following her educational ministry, she performed community services at Assumption Residence in Petersham where she helped to care for the senior sisters of her congregation, assisted the director of maintenance and performed numerous other services. In 2011, Sister Claire moved to Marie Esther Health Center and devoted the rest of her 11 years in a ministry of prayer.
She is survived by two nieces, Mary Claire and Marie; two nephews, Tom and Jerry, six grandnieces and grandnephews and the Sisters of the Assumption worldwide.
The wake will be on Thursday, April 21, from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at Alliance Health at Marie Esther, 720 Boston Post Road East, Marlborough, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. The interment will be in the East Street Cemetery, East Street, Petersham.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of the Assumption Retirement Fund, 720 Boston Post Road, Marlborough, MA 01752.
